It is vital that you increase your energy intake (with snacks or liquid meal intakes) slowly and gradually.
You may feel too full, bloated or even nauseous because your stomach and metabolism are not used to such a lot of food. Such symptoms can be most discouraging and put you off trying to gain weight.
Start off by adding one snack ,to your daily intake, while keeping your other food intake constant.
When you feel completely happy and confident that you are handling the one snack or one liquid meal a day, add another snack.
Give your body time to get used to this addition and once you are settled, add the third snack.
Conserve energy by relaxing as much as possible and sleeping at least eight hours a night if you can.

Three factors to consider in weight gain are the Basal Metabolic Rate, Energy expended during physical activity and the Thermic effect of food.
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the amount of energy expended by your body to support ongoing metabolic work of body’s cells. This comprises about 60-70% of the body’s energy.
For adult males:
Calculate this by multiplying the body weight by 10 and then add double the body weight to this value. So for a 150 lb male, the value comes to (1,500+(2*150)) = 1,800 cal/day
For adult females:
Calculate this by multiplying the body weight by 10 and then add the body weight to this value. So for a 120 lb female, the value comes to (1200+120) = 1,320 cal/day

In order to build up muscles, light weight training is encouraged before going into more intensive weight training. Always remember to conduct a 5 – 10 minutes warm up stretching before any exercise. Make arrangement to exercise once - twice a week, 30 -45 minutes each time to gradually, 3 times a week, 30 – 45 minutes.
Many working underweight people do not have the habit of doing regular exercise or tedious exercise as they worried that they may loose more weight. To gain weight fast, a system of diet and muscles training program will be suggested to individuals.
To gain muscles, long distance running is not encouraged. Playing ball games continuously for 4-5 hours is not encouraged too.
